Dentist (Chief, Dental Officer)

This position is located at the United States Penitentiary (USP), Thomson, Illinois. The incumbent serves as a Chief Dental Officer and utilizes technical skills and professional judgement to provide a full range of dental services to the inmate population. The Chief Dental Officer serves as a general dental practitioner responsible for diagnosis and treatment of difficult dental problems in a correctional environment. Provides comprehensive dental care to the inmate population, who may have behavior and communication problems. Responsible for the coordination and supervision of the dental program, providing input regarding proposed modifications to operating procedures. Responsible for establishing and maintaining quality control measures to ensure final product conforms to standards set forth by the American Dental Association, National Board for Certification of Dental Technicians and the Dental Service of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements:
Degree in dental surgery (D.D.S.) or dental medicine (D.M.D.) from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA); or other dental school, provided the education and knowledge acquired was substantially equivalent to that of graduates from an ADA approved school. If applicable, applicants will undergo a credentialing process. This process includes validation of medical examinations, education, internship and residency. Applicants must be currently licensed to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. NOTE:
ALL applicants MUST submit proof of current, active and unrestricted license for verification. Your documentation MUST be received by the Consolidated Staffing Unit by the closing date of the vacancy announcement. AND Additional Requirements:
One year of professional dentistry experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level. Experience and/or training must be one of the following types:
Post-licensure professional experience in the general practice of dentistry. Approved internship training. Approved residency. Graduate-level study in an accredited dental school. Post-licensure professional experience in a specialized area of practice. Other advanced study or training (outside a dental school or hospital creditable towards satisfaction of training program requirements for Board eligibility. The following terms are defined:
Approved internship; approved residency - Training in a hospital dental internship or residency approved by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. Graduate-level study - Either dental graduate study leading to an advanced degree such as Master of Science, or postgraduate (non-degree) dental school study involving a level of instruction comparable to that provided in a graduated degree program. National certifying board - An examining board in a special area of dental practice recognized by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. Board eligibility - Qualification for examination by a national certifying board as a result of having met the advanced training program requirements for a dental specialty. AND Medical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
